JSI Research & Training Institute, Nepal Family Health Program NFHP-II Selected NMDC's Proposal for "Promotion of Health Journalism in Nepal" NFHP II is implemented by JSI and funded by USAID.
NMDC is proud to share its achievements with Nepal Government, donor communities, journalists, friends and well-wishers that NMDC's proposal on "Promotion of Health Journalism in Nepal" submitted to Nepal Family Health Program NFHP II (JSI Research & Training Institute/ USAID) to provide health journalism training and fellowship to the working journalists has been selected after a careful scrutinization of a number of proposals by Proposal Selection Committee. We are very happy that our tireless effort to promote health journalism and our devotion to empower rural media once again has been recognized.
The key objective of the project is:
- to enhance knowledge of local level journalists on health system and services
- to encourage local health journalist in building cordial relationship between local health personnel and district health office/facilities
- to empower local journalists by enhancing their analytic health reporting and writing skills
Under this small project, a 3-day Health Journalism training will be organized in two places (Hetauda and Surkhet) with the participation 40 working journalists from 20 NFHP II program districts. At least 120 in-depth health news/articles produced by trainees during 6 month period after the training will be awarded as fellowship.
National Media Development Center (NMDC) established for the promotion of provincial media is the pioneer organization working for the development of health journalism in Nepal. In last four years, it has provided health journalism training to 308 mid-career journalists on RH with the supported by OSI, Ipas Nepal and U.S. Embassy. I highly would like to recognize and remember to NMDC's Trainers, Volunteer- Consultants, Members, Foreign Friends, Journalists, NMDC Trainees, FNJ Center and Branches, Friends and Well-wishers.
